How this calculator handles racing rules

  • Each-way doubles outlay because every line has a win part and place part.
  • Rule 4 and dead-heat adjustments reduce winnings, not returned stake.
  • Void selections are treated as decimal 1.0 in multiples and stake-refund in singles.

How It Works

Plain-English guidance for core betting mechanics and racing-specific rules

Stake Modes

Use stake per bet when every line carries the same amount. Use total stake to spread one budget evenly over all generated lines.

Each-Way

Each-way creates two parts per line: win and place. Outlay doubles because both parts are staked. A placed-only horse pays the place part.

Rule 4

Rule 4 deductions reduce the winnings portion only. Returned stake remains intact unless a leg loses.

Void Selections

Voids are treated as 1.0 decimal in multiples, so surviving legs continue. A void single returns stake with no profit.
